The Maine Academy of Natural Sciences (MeANS) is a public charter high school that inspires and engages students through project-based, student-centered instruction immersed in the natural sciences of Maine with a focus on agriculture, forestry, and the environment. MeANS challenges all students to connect with their education in order to grow as individuals, interact with their communities, and lead fulfilling lives.
William Doray joined the military straight out of high school and served 15 years in the military with his last duty station being in Alaska. When he was discharged, he returned to Maine and attended the University of Maine Farmington, graduating in 2018 with a Bachelor’s in History graduating Magna Cum Laude and minoring in Political Science and International & Global Studies. He then Attended the University of Maine graduating in 2019 with a Master of Arts in Teaching.
Solomon has been teaching at the MeANS since 2016, and has served in a variety of roles at the school. He graduated from the honors college at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2012 and earned his Master’s degree in Education there in 2013. Before teaching at MeANS, Solomon served in and then supervised an AmeriCorps program in Somerset and Franklin counties, and was a farm apprentice at 3 Level Farm in South China, Maine. When he is not teaching English, working with students on the One-Acre Farm, or fixing computers, he works alongside his neighbors at 3 Level and Dig Deep Farms, skis, writes and plays music, and otherwise lives the good life with his partner Danielle, child Clara, and dog Homer.
